About Pollyanna Pickering - Wildlife ArtistPollyanna Pickering is recognised and respected as one of the leading wildlife artists throughout the United Kingdom and Europe.
Pollyanna was born in Leeds in 1942 and grew up in Rotherham where she embarked on her training as an artist at The Rotherham College of Arts. Pollyanna continued her studies at The London Central School of Art where she graduated with distinction.
Pollyanna's original work has been exhibited in many of the prestigious galleries throughout the world and she has had her work exhibited at The Royal Academy, London.
For fifteen years Pollyanna ran, from her home, a wildlife sanctuary for birds of prey, and where she also cared for many injured and orphaned animals. This close contact with animals is reflected in the accuracy and realism of her work. Pollyanna soon began to only draw and paint animals and birds which she had observed in their natural habitats. This devotion to realism lead her to take a series of remarkable journeys to remote areas of the world in order to capture the true spirit of the animals she drew and painted. These journeys lead her to her relentless charity work which she undertakes to protect endangered and vulnerable species worldwide - Pollyanna remains a tireless champion and campaigner for wildlife today.
Pollyanna's close contact with animals shines through in the realism, energy and spirit of her drawings and paintings. In her early work, Pollyanna's love for dogs, cats, horses and birds is evident by her meticulously drawn portraits which capture with integrity and sincerely the true spirit and character of each breed she drew. |
